Research Directed Gifts

Whether you are a private donor, corporate donor or representing a foundation, you can also decide to direct your gift to the Marine Institute in support of our research.  Since our beginnings in 1964 the Marine Institute has worked closely with industry to answer research questions of importance to the economic development of Newfoundland and Labrador. The research enterprise has evolved tremendously since that time, but the focus on research with an impact remains the same. Today, teams of highly qualified researchers, technical staff, support staff and graduate students are using world class infrastructure to answer research questions of local, national and international importance in the areas of: fisheries, maritime operations, ocean safety and ocean technology. Examples of research-directed charitable gifts to the Institute have funded research Chairs and research projects, enabling further understanding of aquatic invasive species and the advancement of stock assessment and sustainable harvest advice. If you would like to know more about how your charitable gift can be directed towards research at the Institute, please contact us.
