Training and Workshops
Training and workshops are primarily coordinated through the Community Based Education Delivery Unit (CBED). Also the Centre for Sustainable Aquatic Resources (CSAR) and the Centre for Aquaculture and Seafood Development (CASD) develop and organize training initiatives for their industrial clients.
Transport Canada Fishing Masters Training
The School of Fisheries offers Fishing Masters training to prepare fish harvesters to write Transport Canada examinations. This training is delivered on campus, online and in communities.
On campus training can be completed in two ways:
- Complete Transport Canada blocks on campus at the Marine Institute. To register for this training contact Arlene McDonald via email or telephone at 709-778-0373
- Or, complete Fishing Masters training as part of the Technical Certificate in Harvesting
Online training is available for fish harvesters who would like the flexibility and convenience of studying from any location. Community based training is offered in communities throughout Newfoundland and Labrador.
