Dr. Paul Winger, Director of the Fisheries and Marine Institute’s Centre for Sustainable Aquatic Resources (CSAR) reached a significant milestone in 2015, with a total of 7 peer-reviewed scientific publications in a single calendar year.

“Co-authoring this many articles in a single year is a personal best for me,” said Dr. Winger. “My interest lies in sustainable fishing technology, fish capture behaviour, behavioural ecology and reducing ecological impacts of fishing. These publications showcase some of the novel and innovative findings collected by our staff, graduate students and myself.”

Dr. Winger and the multi-talented team at CSAR work in collaboration with their colleagues at MI as well as nationally and internationally. Together, they have produced a wide variety of publications on a broad range of topics spanning from gear design to fish behaviour to best practices. 

Dr. Winger joined the CSAR team in 2003 and became director in 2005. He has cross-appointments with Memorial University’s cognitive and behavioural ecology and environmental science programs as well as the departments of biology and psychology.

CSAR promotes the sustainable development of aquatic resources through collaborative industrial research and development, technology transfer and education services to the global fishing industry. Click here to read more on CSAR’s publications.
