Marine Institute helping to develop aquaculture and fisheries courses in Kenya
Thursday, September 22, 2022

The Marine Institute, along with partners Seneca College and Nova Scotia Community College, is working with two Kenyan post-secondary institutions to develop courses in aquaculture and fisheries. These courses will provide young Kenyans with the opportunity to be work-ready in this growing sector.

In July, the team spent two weeks in Kenya (Kisumu and Homa Bay) with partners at Mawego Technical Training Institute and the Kisumu National Polytechnic, where they built relationships, set goals, explored the industry and made plans for the next two years. MI looks forward to seeing the impact of this project on those interested working in the region’s fisheries and aquaculture sector.

Check out the team’s experiences at Mawego Technical Training Institute and Kisumu National Polytechnic. Our thanks to Mary Bantug of Seneca College for the videos.
