Program Description

This program will provide you a solid grounding in electronics, mechanical technology and workplace safety. Through classroom, simulation and work place training, you'll become an expert at operating, maintaining and repairing ROV systems.

Students completing the four-year Underwater Vehicles program will earn both a Diploma of Technology and a Bachelor of Technology Degree. There is also exit at 2 years with a Technician Diploma in Remotely Operated Vehicles or 3 years with a Diploma of Technology.

Program Structure

This four-year program consists of eight 13 week academic semesters, two technical sessions and a work term.

  • First year: Two academic terms followed by a technical session.
  • Second year: Two academic terms followed by a technical session and a work term.
  • Third year: Two academic terms.
  • Fourth year: Two academic terms.
Admission Requirements

Adherence to our Application and Admission Regulations either upon high school graduation (following a period of employment subsequent to graduation), or by transfer from another post-secondary institution.

Proof of physical fitness through the Canadian Association of Petroleum Producers (CAPP) Offshore Medical.

Strong math and science skills.

Requirements for both the diploma and the degree successfully completed in order to receive any one of the credentials.

DCBC Accreditation

Graduates are recognized by the Diver Certification Board of Canada (DCBC) and are eligible to register with DCBC as an ROV Operator.
