The ballast control simulator was commissioned in 1994. This simulator is used to replicate operations conducted in the ballast control room of an oil rig. The simulator is mounted on a two degree of freedom motion base and is supplemented by desktop trainers.

Float-on/float-off vessels can also be simulated.

The cargo handling simulator, also commissioned in 1994, is collocated with the ballast control simulator. This simulator is used to emulate the operations of cargo control rooms onboard crude carriers and product carriers.

Specialized modules permit crude oil wash and inert gas simulations.

Features of this simulator include:

  • Simulation software - Kongsberg BCS/BCT 2000
  • Motion platform - Rexroth 2 DOF
  • One full mission and six part task student workstations
  • Ship models - semi-sub drill platform, product carrier, VLCC, RORO
